THE CAREER
Medical Assistants play an important role in health care services. They perform both administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of various health practitioners running efficiently. Some of the clinical responsibilities include arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services, taking electrocardiograms, preparing patients for x-rays, taking medical histories and recording vital signs, removing sutures, drawing blood and changing dressings.
THE PROGRAM
Elmira Business Institute offers both a 12 month Medical Assistant certificate and a 16 month Associate program in Medical Assisting. Courses in these medical assistant training programs are equally weighted between administrative and clinical aspects of the profession. In addition, the Associate program at EBI College offers advanced training designed to add depth and maturity to your professional background plus an externship that allows you to work in the field under the supervision and evaluation of a cooperating business facility and EBI. As you can see, this is no ordinary medical assisting college!

THE JOB OUTLOOK
According to the US Department of Labor, career opportunities for Medical Assistants are expected to grow for several years to come and be one of the fastest growing occupations overall. The healthcare industry is expected to expand due to technological advances in medicine. Medical Assistants will be in high demand, especially those with formal training and certification
